I heartily agree with your sentiments. Just a point though, it's not that much of a student pub. All right I spent most of my student life there, but I have no intention of stopping now. It is very good for spending all day getting wellied in mind, as I have proved on numerous occasions. As to other pubs, may I recomend The Halt, Tennents, The Aragorn and The Hogshead. Most of them are chain pubs, but are currently quite nicely turned out.
