Wonderful article, fingers crossed it get's published.
I really like the way you have structured your article and agree with you on all points.
Having moved to Denmark from England, I have to say it would be a lot easier if there was only one language!!
Also, having grown up on Sci-Fi movies/tv, it is obvious that any lifeform outside of Earth speaks English (okay, with a somewhat American accent!)

Thanks for the good wishes. Your reply prompted me to re-read and edit out 'Centurians' in favour of the Danes, who I'm sure added some colour to the language.
The American accent is not one of my favourites, though I like a soft southern drawl and Boston American is as close as they get to 'proper' English.
