I normally use a name in different language followed by a four digit number for passwords. (Obviously it does help if you know any foreign languages!)

That sounds a little like one of my approaches, which is to translate portions of my name into English, then throw in a couple of numbers.
But a question, Ek: how do you decide which foreign words to use??

Another trick with numbers in a password, is to substitute numbers for letters. For example, the word Promise (my cat) would be pr0m15e. Foreign names work well. In the past, I've used davydd, harledb, and some others I can't remember. At work our passwords change every 30 days.

Several people mention having to change their passwords at work on a regular basis -- I must say, I would find that difficult -- but then again, I imagine most of us find ways of adjusting to that kind of thing. Especially when it's regular. Do you suppose there are those who work out their whole year's passwords in advance?? I guess it would be possible, by simple substitutions worked into the same basic name/word/number combination.
