Thanks, GB. But I'm mystified by the conversation title.
No, we had rain for the first time in weeks yesterday and there were no stars, but I did get out the night before that and saw Saturn, Mizar, Praesepe and Epsilon Lyrae. In my viewing point in the back garden, there are tall houses and trees all around, so I can only see the sky about about 30° which limits my view a bit, and I'm not familiar yet with what I should be looking for. I'll be better prepared the next time.
