...but not good enoughsmiley - doh
I hope there were plenty of smiley - starsmiley - starsmiley - star for you last night, as there was here. I collected my son at 11pm from his card club and after I put the car away glanced up at the sky, as I always do, force of habit, strange thing was, it was hardly dark, the sky was a mid-blue, but I could plainly see the Plough above my head. Andrew pointed out Gemini and smiley - mars which made me feel very smug, and I'm very smiley - envy of your new 'scope as you well know.

I never got on with my 'scope, much prefer my Dad's binos, which are more powerful than mine, and let me see more than enough smiley - star and smiley - planet(I'm easy pleased)

Welcome to The Post, Gnomon, looking forward to the next musingssmiley - biggrin

Gnomon - time to move on

Thanks, GB. But I'm mystified by the conversation title.

No, we had rain for the first time in weeks yesterday and there were no stars, but I did get out the night before that and saw Saturn, Mizar, Praesepe and Epsilon Lyrae. In my viewing point in the back garden, there are tall houses and trees all around, so I can only see the sky about about 30° which limits my view a bit, and I'm not familiar yet with what I should be looking for. I'll be better prepared the next time.
