Why exactly are you so bored?
This is supposed to be relaxing!

"What would you do if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me?"

Then lend me your ears an I'll sing you a song.
(Well I'll try not to sing out of key)
Oh here we are at the fountain,
I'm a'sittin and a'singin.
To me it's getting very plain
That I *am* not there, I *have been*.

Was there a hidden meaning behind that verse?

Sing if your Bored

Post 8

typolifi

There's always a hidden meaning behind my words.

No - I'm kidding.Hahahaha

It only meant that, given my being alone at the fountain at that time, I were not to stay, but to go. Not to be there, but to have been there. Not to live there, but to die there.
Not to last forever but to vanish in the heys.
Not to rest, but to toil.

Kiddin again smiley - fish

I came out here to avoid the strange people in the Gent's. I thought that perhaps I could relax on the bench and eat my smiley - cake in peace. Maybe I was wrong.

You can create a peaceful forum here, and you can relax in that, if you like...?

Just what I had in mind!

The soft splashing of the water in the fountain, the sun sparkling through the fresh green leaves of the trees and I've just finished a very nice smiley - cake.

smiley - zen

Perhaps a good book would be good, can you recommend anything? I quite like anything to do with termites.

Termites... Hmm... I'm not sure about that one...
I'll have a think...

Oh!
I'm sure you must have read some good ones, there is no shortage after all. The "Bibliography of Termite Literature" (Earnst / Araujo) lists over 3000 titles! Unfortunately, many are now unavailable.

Perhaps I'll just buy a copy of "Fast Bike" instead.

Very public spirited of you ..... all that work with the mop back there.

Have you studied any more of the Victorian graffiti? I'm very puzzled about the tomatoe references. Are you sure you've got it right?

smiley - huh

Post 18

Bluebottle

Oh yes, the tomato reference is definately to tomatoes.

Apparently in Victorian times tomatoes were not allowed to be sold uncovered as they were considered rude. According to their over-polite views, they looked too much like bottoms to be seen in common life. Very strange.

Sexy tomatoes? Mmmm....

So is our standard of morality today correct? In the not too distant past, child sex and beating your inferiors was OK, but tomatoes were dangerous ground. I'm sure they thought their standards were correct then too.

What will the moral position be in 100 years time? Hard to say isn't it? There seems to be little logical reasoning behind morality in spite of what we may feel at the time.

smiley - angelsmiley - devil

The morality of aardvarks leaves lots of room for having fun without causing harm smiley - biggrin , although many insects disagree.
