St George's flag

What's the matter with the English? The rest of the United Queendom celebrate their Saint's days with great gusto. The Irish and half of the rest of the world wear the green and drink gallons of Guinness <stout> on St Patrick's day. The Scots rate St Andrew second only to Hogmanay <drunk> and the Welsh wave their daffodils and leeks <hangover> and sing their hearts out in praise of St David. But on April 23rd, St Georges day, where are the flags bearing the proud red cross. Where are the bunting and the street parties. I wanted to fly that flag this year, I wanted to show that I am proud to be English but could I buy St Georges symbol --- no!<cross> Not a shop in this area, not a market stall, I only found a couple of people who knew when the English Saint's day is. <sadface>
I believe that this is symbolic of the failing morale of the English people. Our own gutter press have derided and de-valued the Royal family and our political leaders have less influence than pop stars or footballers. So next year can we try to show how good it is to live in St George's beautiful country by flying his flag?<bubbly>(If you can find one!)And ,yes, I know he was born in Palestine!
