Well with the fact that aircraft are causing more pollution than anything else, could it be that we should go back to the era of ships and rather slow planes to get around. The fact of the matter is with the internet and all that space tat, do we really do be in anywhere in the world within three days!!!

Aircraft only cause pollution if you accept water vapour (which has a massive greenhouse effect, admittedly) is a pollutant. Jet engines run a lot, lot cleaner than the average ICE.

I thought that if you were to drive around the world in a diesel car it would consume the amount of fuel as the fuselauge of an Airbus, the airbus would need to land at least four times for their journey!!!

Just because it uses more fuel, doesn't mean it produces more pollution.

Well given that nature has a fairly efficient way of balancing water vapour content of the air, air travel doesn't sound too bad and would get less polluting should Scramjets become a commercial reality (give it 20 years I reckon) as they only use the initial fuel required to boost them up to starting speed.
