A Conversation for Talking Point: What Makes a Great Film?

Gigli?

I don't think I've ever met anyone who considers Gigli to be among the best films of all time, or even a notable film in any way whatsoever.

It's surely third quartile, ie not the best, not even good, but not capable of providing the spurious entertainment that the bottom quartile affords. Plus it's got J-Lo in it.

Maybe you meant Gigi? Probably not, but hey, it's a far better film and only slightly dated by 1950s social perversions like borderline paedophilia, cigarettes and marriage.
