Hamish Vigne Christie Paul is his birth name. First mention of "Korky" is:
<>
was it this person who gave him his nickname?

"a family of seven children" implies there were no parents. Did they raise themselves? Or was a family of nine, including seven children?

The BBC appear to spell it Bushveld

I believe it is just a nickname he acquired from sketching in his home country

Family of nine of which seven were children

Gnomon - time to move on

The official biography on his own site says "in a family of seven children", so I'd leave it as it is, and leave the interpretation to the reader.

I have found another BBC entry in google that gives it as:

African bush veldt

GB,

I have also read that Korky had been given his nickname as a child when he began drawing.

There seems to be a some mix up over the name of the country and its capital.

Harare is the Capital of Zimbabwe, which used to be Salisbury, Rhodesia.

Opti, you're a researcher. You're supposed to do research. Work out what the correct wording should be exactly, and let your sub-ed know.

I reworded it to:
Born in 1951, in Salisbury, RhodesiaRhodesia became known as the Republic of Zimbabwe in 1980; Salisbury changed its name to Harare in 1982.,

as Opti is busy writing an article for <./>thepost</.>smiley - ok

I've finished subbing now, so I'll send it back, see you on the Front Page!
