smiley - wow You got the next one in here fast!

And it's a good one, too smiley - biggrin

Few points, though...

"University of Findlay in America" - South America has 15 countries, Central America has 7, and North America has 3 plus a few territories in the Arctic - that makes a total of 25+ for America smiley - winkeye You need to be more specific - Findlay is in Ohio, USA

Zimbabwe didn't become Zimbabwe until 1980, and wasn't even the Republic of Rhodesia yet in 1951 - it was a British colony. So maybe change to "present-day Zimbabwe" - and mention that Durban is in South Africa, for those not in the know smiley - smiley

"There he met a Scottish man called James Watt who worked for a Greek publisher who commissioned Paul to illustrate children's books which aimed to teach Greek children to speak English." - as it stands, this sentence is a bit too long and strung-together. Who does the second "who" refer to, Watt or the publisher?

"Paul was particularly humbled by this accolade" - may just be my not understanding the English correctly, but is "humbled" the right word here? He may have accepted it with humility or something, but that makes it sound so, er, negative. Isn't "honoured" better?

Is it really appropriate to post the names of the children? Hootoo does have a thing about not mentioning the full names of minors (those can be inferred as the names of both parents are up...)

Still, interesting bio! smiley - biggrin

smiley - ta for your comments. I've made the necessary corrections.

I didn't realise that about childrens names and wonder what other peoples perception on this is, as its a new thing on me.

Hi Opti,

Perhaps you can change the footnote to read:

'Formerly known as Rhodesia until 1980'

or something a little less clunky smiley - ok

Fascinating article Opti.

Just one nitpick:

< might be better as 'in 1991, Anne McNeil, editor at the Bodley Head, asked Paul to illustrate Jonathan Long’s book The Dog That Dug(full stop)* Once released it won The Sheffield Book Award.>

*Or a semi-colon or hyphen/dash which suits.

RE. the inclusion of the children's names, I hadn't seen a mention of that before either, but as their names are already writ large on the Web, including photos of Paul with them, I can't see the harm.

Lose the "formerly" in the footnote, perhaps? It's redundant.

Just on the footnote - I'd be inclined to reverse it: put Rhodesia in the body as that's what it was when he was born there, and add "presently Zimbabwe" or suchlike as the footnote.

I like the first quote in the entry Opti.

Thanks for the read. smiley - cheers
