Which city? London, of course, but this is not London University, nor one of the newly upgraded polytechnics.
TCU was Northampton Institute until awarded university status in 1966.

I attended 1972-76 & I expect there have been many changes since.
In my day the ratio of males:females was about 3:1, the bulk of males doing engineering & the females ophthalmic optics or social sciences. To redress the balance at social events, the student nurses from Barts (St Bartholomews Hospital) were invited.

Thanks, Teaswill!
As it could be confusing to an outsider, I think it's worth pointing out that the university *is* in London, and not Northampton! The name comes from its location at Northampton Square in Clerkenwell.
Some more facts:
The Northampton Institute was founded in 1894.
Students' Union Website: http://www.cusuonline.org/
Famous Alumni include newsreader Dermot Murnaghan, weatherman Michael Fish, entreprenour Stelios Haji-Ioannou (of Easyjet fame), television presenters Tiff Needell and Sophie Raworth and Ruby Hammer (or Ruby and Millie cosmetics).
