Advantages:

Central location with good transport links to all regions.
A cheap city to live in - in fact one of the cheapest places in the country to be a student.
An abundance of cheap accomodation within walking distance of the campus.
A modern, compact campus within walking distance of the centre of the city.
MASSES of really, really good curry houses within walking distance of the many good pubs and clubs that surround the campus.
A film buff's dream city, what with the National Museum of Photography Film and Television ten minutes walk down the road.

Admittedly, I graduated (oh my Bod!) fourteen years ago this year, but I still remember the place fondly.

OK, more specific info as requested:

- The general location of the university in the UK

Bradford, West Yorkshire.

- information on how to get there

Road, M62 then M606. Rail from Manchester or Leeds or London, St. Pancreas I think...

- nearest towns and attractions.

Campus is walking distance from the centre of town. Leeds is 10 miles away, accessible by bus/train. Manchester is one hour or so away by road. Ilkley is nice for a day out, 20 mins on the train.

"Is it a campus university?"

City centre redbrick.

"Do students mingle happily with locals?"

In the area of the Uni there are practically only two groups of people - students and the Pakistani immigrant community. If you're white in BD7, you're most likely a student. The local community makes a good living from the students, in my experience there was hardly any trouble at all (which contrasts heavily with my experience at another university I won't name.)

"Number of students"

Fahsands of 'em.

Most of the rest of the info I'd say is readily available on the uni's own website, so I won't bore you with it.

That's almost an Entry's worth! Thanks very much SoRB.

I'll add some of the other stuff that's more readily available, so it's easy to find when the info is collated:

Founded 1966.

University website: http://www.bradford.ac.uk
Students' Union website: http://www.ubuonline.co.uk/

Famous alumni: John Hegley (poet) and loads of MPs (including Ann Taylor, Michael Clapham and Stephen Hesford), and Richinnyam Amarjargal (former Mongolian Prime Minister).

Bradford is also excellent for local attractions: Ilkley as SoRB has said but also Howarth(Bronte country).

Saltaire(wonderful old mill with a permenant Hockney exhibition there with new stuff all the time - the smell of Lilies still takes me back there whenever I smell the scent - visit there and you will know what I mean).

Halifax is also a lovely old town and for your final year project The British Library at Boston Spa is a car journey away.

Leeds is very close also and slightly further afield but do-able in an afternoon(if you REALLY cannot stand the lectures!) is York.

The Yorkshire Dales and Derbyshire Dales are fairly close also.

The National Museum Of Film And Photography also has a TV Heaven section now where you can wtach full old programmes from the whole range: comedies, dramas, documentaries, kids programmes. Has it been there when I was there I would have been a permenant residence there.

The whole area has been regenerated over the past few years and looking really nice and you will never be short of cheap Indian ingredients.

Everything is within walking distance of the University and (unless it has changed much) you really do not need a car at all as you can get accomodation within a 20minute walk of the campus.

The Businees School is actually on the other side of Bradford but we do not talk about Business Studies people! Weirdos.

The locals are fine and I even got friendly with a couple who were as obsessed as I was with a local Blues Band who played in the local pub every Saturday night. Nothing in common apart from that but a great break out from just knowing students.

Happy days.
