I didn't go to Gloucestershire, but I've just had a look around for info to see if I can add at least a snippet or two. The university seems to have a really interesting, complex history. From what I can see this institution (formerly Gloucestershire College of Arts and Technology) became a University in 2001, but its history dates all the way back to 1847!

It looks like a nice place to study - accommodation for all students is a real rarity now isn't it?

It was the best place for me 
Not much different to home .....great social life.....lovely place to work and study I could go on but all shall berevealed in my entry
Mind you other people have differing views......one persons like is another ones dislike......so I'd be interested to here various accounts of the same and different unis

GlosCAT's still GlosCAT. The University is an amalgamation of various previously existing institutions and colleges, and GlosCAT isn't one of them.
I had a job at the University in some of their prettier buildings in Cheltenham a couple of years ago.

Probably not. Or probably not me, anyway. I was working in administration over one summer, and had very minimal contact with students.

. Well, it is an 'alternative' prospectus! 
OK, to clear up, following from my entirely inaccurate summary of the merging of Local Education Authority colleges:
Apparently, in the '80s GlosCAT divided into a Higher Education trust and a Further Education Corporation. In 1990 Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education was formed from the Higher Education Trust and the Church Foundation Trust. In 2001 it became the University of Gloucestershire.
