My 2nd and 3rd toes are webbed about 90% of the way and am very conscious/shy when I don't have shoes and socks on. Probably because I was teasd when I was young. How comon is it? I have never seen any one else with webbed toes. Why does it happen and is it hereditary?

I have webbed toes on both feet on my second and third toes. From what I hear from this forum it is common and may be hereditry, not entirly sure how it happens but I read somewhere that it the cause of the feet not entirely forming properly. I love my webbed toes and people are always curios in a good way. There are risks involved if they are operated on.
EVERYONE SHOULD KEEP THEIR WEBBED TOES!!

I have the second and third toes webbed on my left foot and my brother has the second and third toes webbed on his right foot. We are two of six kids so it seems to be quite rare and the fact that we both have have webbed toes is quite exciting. I am quite proud of them and it is always a conversation maker to get them out at gatherings. People are always really curious about whether it hurts and why didn't my mom have them separated. I am really glad she didn't as they have never given me any pain and as I say they are quite a party trick!

my 2nd and 3rd toe on my right foot are webbed as well. i was extremely self conscience as a kid and sometimes i still am. it took me over a year to show my husband! it definitely can be hereditary since my sister has the same thing. we're 2 out of 5 children that have webbed toes. i went to a podiatrist when i was in highschool to see if i could get them separated. the doctor thought i was being ridiculous and said it's not as easy as an operation as you think. so i never went through it. i'm much more comfortable with it now. my husband jokes about it and says i have 9 toes. i just say "i'm more evolved since we don't need toes to hang on trees!"
