A Conversation for Raymond Queneau and the Oulipo

Here's a nicely written piece of text even if I say so myself, although I'm afraid it's on a subject not many people will find utterly fascinating. Raymond Queneau was a French poet from the mid Twentieth Century who, unusually for somebody with an arts background, also had a deep knowledge of mathematics. His life's work was basically an attempt to combine these two enthusiasms, and naturally he came up with some fairly bizarre material.

I'm not saying 'Read it - you must', or anything. I'm just bringing it to the attention of the h2g2 scouts, now that they seem to be taking on more entries for final editing. Anyway, I think it's good enough for the Edited Guide :- http://www.h2g2.com/A352342

Cheers, Lear

It's very good indeed - well written, interesting (to more people than you think, I suspect) and informative. Should sail through.

The only problem I had was that the link to the 100Tpoems page didn't work.

Sorry about that. They must have changed the address recently. Anyway I've put the new one in and it's working ok now.

Thanks for your comments, by the way. Much appreciated. smiley - smiley

Hope nobody minds my bumping this one back to the top of the queue. Worth a read if you're interested in poetry on the one hand, engaging little oddities on the other. And it's well-written too... smiley - winkeye

Don't mind at all. I am obsessed with the French, and enjoyed the entry as much as I did when I added it to the H2G2 Literary Society months ago. I'm glad to see you finally submitted it. The only downside is that once this becomes edited, they will put it on a new page, so I will have to update the link at the Society.

Ah, well, despite my laziness, I recommended the entry anyway. smiley - smiley It's been approved. The entry is moving "into the Editorial Process for future inclusion in the Edited Guide. When it does get into the Edited Guide," you will receive an email "to let you know, but please bear in mind it can take a while for entries to go through the sub-editing system."
