Cats and how to legally kick their backsides....

Post 21

I'm not really here

My garden looks a state as I have that sort of thing around the garden anyway - things come and live in stuff I leave in my garden.

I got a reply!

There are 2 main categories of humane deterrents available that you can use in your garden, all of these should be available in most good garden centres;

Scent based deterrents;

Silent Roar- This is a pelleted product based on the extract of lion
dung, it works on the principle of convincing cats that there is a much larger more dominant cat in the area.

Rooster- This is a pelleted poultry manure intended for borders, beds,
etc. that has the side effect of being off-putting to many cats

Electronic Deterrents;

Cat Watch- This device scans the garden with an infra red beam and emits an ultrasonic alarm only audible to cats when triggered. The
manufacturers are Concept Research www.conceptresearch.co.uk

Scarecrow- This works on a similar principle but sprays water over the
garden and can be purchased online athttp://www.jacobijayne.co.uk/moreinfo.php?info=SCRW&page=EXCR&type=CAT&from=search.php&search=scarecrow

Glad to see they had something useful to say smiley - ok

Rooster sounds good - with the added benefit of giving the ground a feed. That thought struck me about Silent Roar, but when I saw the price I had a quick re-think smiley - biggrin

Think I'll see if I can get some of that Rooster stuff. Wonder if any poultry manure would do, or if that particular one has something added to it to repel cats?

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013

The scanning approaches do rather ignore the fact that you have got other animals...

I thought that as well. I also don't want water sprayed around (am on a meter!) and Buster eats poo, so don't know how rooster will cope. I think I'll try to find the silent roar and see how that goes. Or visit colchester zoo and put lion poo on my shed roof, fit my own fence that side of the garden and smear it along the top of that.
