Aloe Vera

Hello green fingered friends! I need a little help with Aloe Vera and watering requirements please. Should it be watered regularly and kept moist, or should it be treated similar to a cactus and kept relatively dry? I've tried the usual websites but I get all info except how it should be watered!
All suggestions greatly appreciated!

My son's plant is left bone dry most of the time, and it's doing very well. I water it occasionally, but probably only once a month!

Thanks Idekino, I'll leave it alone from now on then and just water every now and then!

I think I'd leave it be, too. They store a fair bit of water inside them, so they can deal with a bit of drought.
