N-P-K kits?

Has anyone ever seen these? I've seen kits to check the pH of soil before. Apparently you can get ones to measure the amount of nitrates, potassium and phosperous in soil.
Are they dear? I want one to play with!

Hello Saoránach Bomba
They are new to me! I've just done a search on ask.co.uk and a few websites come up with the NPK kit - they are about £63.00 for a professional kit. If you find one, I hope you have fun with it!

Hi SB
I've seen those kits, there are several phials which test for nitrates etc. The ones i've seen cost around £12, but you can only use them once, which seems a bit expensive if you have a large area you want to test.

You should be able to get the common-or-garden version for around €20. These don't give the actual concentration of the nutrients, they just give a low-medium-high colour chart, where both low and medium levels would benefit from being topped up. I don't think they can distinguish between high (ideal level) and high (seriously overdosed)!

I've done a bit of a search and found one for about £15 which gives the means for testing pH and N, P & K - about 10 tests for each of the four.I don't usually get too hung up about fertilizers. I do throw the odd load of compost and manure on, and if needs be, I deal with anything else when there's signs of deficiency.
There's not usually any need though, apart from things in pots.
