PANAMA

As an immigrant to Los Angeles myself, I can tell you that a brief visit will not make you an expert. I left Panama twenty some odd years ago to take up residence here in what some of us refer to as "Smoggy, foggy". I am still discovering Los Angeles!!! Rarely a month goes by that I am not surprised by something that I had nary a clue about. As for mistaking you for an Aussie, as crass as that might seem to you, it may be due to the fact that there are a ton of Aussies gracing our fair city. By the way, Los Angeles is more like a small nation, sort of like Monte Carlo, but without the natural beauty of the architecture and fancy casinos. I say this because of the wide variety of identifiable intact cultural enclaves. (To name a few: Armenian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Salvadoran, Mexican, Israeli, Arabic, Russian, and so on.)

I miss Panama, but I sure like the weather here. I could do without the periodic earthquakes, but we had them in Panama as well. Come back again. You will enjoy it. And in retrospect, I will be that you enjoyed it as well.

By the way, the British Empire has it's own version of Los Angeles, it is located in the Southern Hemisphere with the odd little name "Sydney". Go there some time. You will love it.
