I don't have the Denon one, but I have a similar program. I connect my stereo receiver to a USB port via this connector, then record. It also records one long track, and then the tracks need to be separated. It can be a bit tricky, especially when there aren't long silences between tracks or if a given track pauses for a sec or changes tempo or anything. I wish it were easier. I'd be motivated to copy a lot more if it wasn't such a pain.
As a matter of fact, I copied two albums last night and need to split the tracks for those over this weekend.

but how do you split and find them again?
I relly like being able to listen to the old music, but the thing is supposed to be able to make it compatible for mp3 players and it bugs me that it's so complicated.

This thing came with its own software. It's got one program that does the copying/recording part (and has some volume leveling available). Then it has this "de-clicking" thing that takes some of the noise out. Then it has this program where it shows the recorded file as a sort of line graph. Basically, you tell it how many tracks are on that side of the album, and then you can either input the track times (if you have them) or manually move this vertical line along the line graph and position it at the beginning of a track- it plays back a few seconds for you so you can hear if you have it right. Without track times to input, it's pretty much time-consuming trial and error.
But it's nice being able to get stuff onto my mp3 player. Though one thing I noticed is that I need to record at a higher volume level than I would normally play back, or it's kind of "muted" on my mp3 player. It also annoys me that it saves the tracks as WAV files and I have to use something else to then convert them to mp3. But right now there aren't a lot of other options, are there?

I don't think i explained that too well. The way mine works is I have to create a new folder to record to, then it automatically opens it up in a second program where you can see, on the graph thingy, where each track starts and stops (along with all the peaks in volume during the songs). It's time consuming but not horribly difficult. Did the Denon turntable come with special software?

the turntable doesn't connect to the PC - it has a USB slot in the front and you put a stick in there. It converts directly to mp3 and it came with software to split the tracks.
However once I've split them I can't find them again - so I can't save them to an album file. The most I can do is create an album file in my Music folder and save 2 tracks, one for each side of the album. It's not too bad, but I don't want that - it's the reason I blew the EUR 200 on the Denon instead of EUR 80 on a cheapo one.
sorry, I'm ranting. I really really hate that anything to do with a computer has to be so frakking difficult and convoulted (just to ensure we have an IT industry...)

Nah, rant away. It seems stupid that once you split the tracks you can't find them again. I wish I had the same stuff as you, not something else, so I could help you figure out where to look. I'll ask around and see if anyone I know has used one with any success.

ah... Hapi seems to think they might be in a subfolder of the Music folder
i never thought to look there
Really, I should not be allowed anywhere near technology.
