Woh - I think the word is evocative.
There are bits even in this short passage that make me smile, a thoughtful smile in reaction to the viscerality of your images. it's very visual writing, and impressively minimalistic but engaging, involving.
My criticisms definitely lie in the area of structure, there are parts that read a little clumsily, I think the imagery needs to fit inside a more solid form. Can't really be more specific, but I'm sure you know what I mean.
Still, there's real brilliance here, I think you have a style that's worth time and effort to perfect. The text is laced with genius, and it carries the writing a long way. Add substance to your style, and you'll have it all.
Btw, Haven't read 'Forest Peace' yet, just about to. Anticipation rising!
