I enjoyed making these and still do, so I just wrote it up. Questions, comments? Thanks! Stacy.

Hi Stacy, these sound like fun! I have never heard of these but then again I am from the Uk so that isn't surprising
I definitely think that with a few changes to meet the <./>writing-guidelines</.> this could be EG material
Although the entry is fairly short, I still think it would be worth putting in a Instructions after the sentence "It is suspected that someone invented these handy things to drive parents mad the week of Thanksgiving."
Then create an unordered list for the items you need eg
a plastic cup
piece of stringetc
We use British English spelling so color is spelt colour.
Also the last sentence - have a happy Thanksgiving - should be removed really.
Does it work with any string, you know the nylon kind or gardening string or does it have to be standard rope-type string - might be worth making a note that it needs to be a specific kind.
I think that will do for now
But great start!

I've never seen this one and I have a child. Anything which encourages arts and crafts with our kids is valuable information and with a little polish should be included.

Did a few alterations on it. Anything else?

can you have another look at the two points mort pointed out,
colored should be coloured
and the Happy Thanks giving sentance should be removed

Looks good! Short, sweet, to the point. With the changes suggested made it should be good to go.

Good stuff!
Do you think you could link to a photo of one of these on a website somewhere?
Also it would be nice to have some hootoo links - to Turkey, Thanksgiving etc.

Whoops, forgot that! I fixed the 'coloured' and removed the last sentence.
In regards to links, the only link for Thanksgiving that is appropriate is unedited. I linked to it, but is there some unwritten (or, indeed, written if I missed it) rule about linking to unedited entries?
Also, there are two turkey entries but neither one is quite not right. Any suggestions on this?

the first ones okay, the second one can't be used cause you shouldn't put links to non-EG entries into the EG

Okay, so the one that I linked to for Thanksgiving to should be unlinked?

Yep.
The reason they only want to link to edited entries is because unedited entries can be changed at any time by the author. They haven't been through PR giving folks a chance to add or improve the entry, spot any any mistakes etc.
The only people that can change the text in an edited entry are the staff - even the subs can't once they have finished working on something and returned it to staff.

Okey doke, unlinked. That makes sense to me.

My elementary school teachers should feel, oh, so creative. I can't find mention of this craft anywhere, not to mention a picture.

One last thing I just noticed - you need to remove the double quotes from around the title as we don't use punctuation in the titles.
Other than that it is a case of waiting until the holidays are over I think!!!
A nice fun little entry and I love it.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
