Love is...

...like the myriad colours of a kaleidoscope.

(I think I've recently established I'm just a romantic at heart really... just not so good at expressing it!)

In the last iteration, we got to...what if it's too late?

I don't think it's ever too late (well, maybe after you're dead, though I try to keep an open mind about that). I went through decades of almost-but-not-quite and then found the right person. Now we both feel set for life, never mind the various things that ought to separate us.

Maybe I'm just a *romantic* INTP.

Oh, there are things that build insurmountable gaps... but I won't go into that! But maybe after we're dead, we'll meet again? I do sometimes think 'how would I feel if I heard he'd died?' I think I'd rather keep the 'happy memories' than risk destroying them. Besides, I can't be sure he was 'the one'. I just know who wasn't!

i did an odd thing - i tracked down someone who i'd always wondered 'what if' about and met up with them for a drink. the spark was gone, and that's fine, but now i have my peace, and i no longer have any regrets.

This is a philosophy similar to mine : -

Namely, If you don't try, you don't get!.

Never stop yourself doing something which you are unsure of, you will only regret never doing it when the moment has passed.

I live by this thinking, and it don't always work to my advantage, but I've had a lot of fun and learnt a lot about people !!??

i agree with you completely sid, keep up the adventures + the learning.
i gathered a ton of courage together a lot of years ago, to call someone i'd admired (worshipped) from afar for years, we had an interesting, blissful 3 months + a very amicable parting too, + that experience, tho not much written down, taught me a very valuable lesson, + had/has a MASSIVE influence on my life, every day since.

all anyone can do is try. take the chances. the worst that can happen is you'll fail. so what. at least you tried. well-worn words i know, but accurate.

Necro (Patron Daemon of Patron Saints)

Since the last time i wrote anything in this forum (which is now a trilogy in four parts...), it has decided to run far into the distance ahead of me and stand there, poking its tongue out and wagling its hands with its thumbs stuck in its ears. My God, enough of you have problems with your sex-/love-lives! At the moment, I reside in happiness, basking in the glow of 15 months of continuous love. That is to say, that is how long I have been going out with my girlfriend for. I have therefore come to the following conclusion:

Love is many different things to many different people. This much is very true, and has been commented on before. However, love is like a flowering plant. It needs the right situation to be in, or the roots will never establish themselves properly. Then it needs the proper care and attention to grow into a large and verdent plant. Finally, without the proper ministry to its needs, it will not produce the flower that can be sustained almost indefinately.

My girlfriend and I live miles away from each other, and yet we have still managed to keep a holiday romance going since the 22nd of August 1998.

I may have sounded like an American self-help tape, but I know from whence I speak.

atb everyone,

Necro.smiley - smiley
