This is applalling and certainly not fair play let alone ethical.
Two US Religious Personalities come up with a way to clean up the courts to their satisfaction.
There have been some disturbing comments made about judges.
It is worrisome with far more extreme fanatics looking and listening to these specific Christian leaders

Thanks for the link, Abbi. These are the types of people who are more and more dominating and framing public discourse in North America. It is truly frightening as it seems that the ultimate goal is to eliminate public discourse.

Yep -
Thanks for reading it
The line from GWB about not wanting special interests judges.
People do have special interests! Thank goodness.
He had to eat those words when the Shiavo case came up again.
Gets lonely reading horror-scopes and keeping them to myself.
There are a large number of books being written by fans of both parties that are stressing moderation. I am happy to see more on both sides talking about how the extremes are not the reality we really want or need because it does not work.
I just hope it will not be as one actress stated;
The US will have to hit bottom just like an alcoholic does before it will change. I worry about what the bottom is to some political and Religious extremists.

So, they've been using torture on their own people since at least 1997; should anyone have been surprised by Abu Ghraib?

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/05/04/us_intellectual_property_blacklist/
The US has published a blacklist of those of its trading partners that are most ineffective when it comes to protecting intellectual property rights (IPRs).
Thirty-six trading partners have been placed on the Watch List, meriting bilateral attention to address the underlying IPR problems: Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Belarus, Belize, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, European Union, Guatemala, Hungary, Italy, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
Canada? The European Union?
Considering that most IT and IP people consider the US take on IP enforcement to be diabolical and the source of many completely pointless legal actiosn, and companies, seems a bit rich.

I don't know what to do with this one:
' A FORMER British military official has backed a sensational claim that the Russian nuclear submarine, the Kursk, was torpedoed by US forces in August 2000.'

Here's something interesting: The Nazis didn't surrender to the U.S. or the Soviet Union or the British or the French -- they surrendered to the UN.

I went and looked at the German surrender documents and it's true. The United Nations are all through them.
Yet another bit of interesting history that has been buried.

It makes sense when you think about how Germany was then carved up. There had to be a body overseeing that.

And also when you consider how quickly the UN charter was drafted, signed and ratified within minutes of the war's end. It's obvious that years of negotiation had alread taken place.
