Got this of the Dawkins site, where it is getting a bit of a kicking.
Not sure I agree with that, but haven't gone through it all yet.
Interesting summary of various points and arguments though, and given me a few names and philosophical viewpoints to check out.

I don't feel any need to defend atheism just as I feel no need to defend an absence of a belief in Narnia.

that's fair, and to be honest the arguments presented therein are not the best.
But it did have some thinkers/writers I hadn't come across before, and some interpretations I had not come across before and thus found it interesting.
