Yes, it is definitely hard to see a pattern. This is a hard problem, and reformulating it shows the amount of work needed to grasp it.
I've been distracted a bit by easier questions of infinity, but these are only easier because I know how to proceed.
Going to the effort of producing the lists exceeds my expectations, and is fantastic.

It goes to show my initial ideas about poverty of numbers to choose, after all half the numbers are even, and by going on long enough you are bound to end up on a power of 2, are just woolly, and it is going to take time for me to sharpen up.
In the end I want to write an entry about symmetry, but appreciate it will take time, and all of this is good practice aquiring the mathematical tools to achieve that end.
