A Conversation for Parallel Universes

I read this and was so intrigued by it that I spent much of the rest of the afternoon thinking about it!
The possible ramifications are so many and varied. What intrigues me, though, is the question of how we get to be the people we are and how we take the decisions we take. Do we actually have free will?
The question is so big and so intriguing, though, that I think it needs more than a short story to explore it. Do you see yourself writing a novel, Tibley?

It's very gratifying to know you were stimulated. Sometimes I feel totally convinced that free will is a delusion. Other times I'm not so sure. Why do I feel so guilty so much of the time if I had no choice? It's enough to drive you mad The idea that I chose all the alternatives on offer and then different versions of me went trolling off to suffer or enjoy the consequences of those choices is a bit of a stretch for me though. But you know what a limited imagination I have
There's no possibility of my writing anything as big as a novel mVpoet. I only started writing these short stories a few months ago as a way to get my mind to focus on something for longer than a few minutes. I take rather strong pain killers and they mess up my brain quite efficiently. If I attempted anything very much longer than you've seen me try so far, I'd get all the characters and events muddled up. How about you having a go? This one's a bit longer than it looks at first glance, by the way. Did you notice the link text paragraph close to the bottom of the story? It'll take you to one of the poor sap's alternative lives.

Sorry, I've only just thought of following the link!
As for imagination, I think you have a wealth of ideas. Many of my stories fall into the 'dull, domestic, depressing' category!
