Hi, I've just arrived at this site (more through good luck than good management) and am somewhat confused. I have windows propagating like hyper-active amoebae every time I look at something else, and am basically mystified by how the whole thing (I have posted on other forum sites but they're completely different to this). A little help, please?

As you should be able to see from the URL, the bottom level site is the BBC one. Within that are various sub-sites run on different pieces of software. This area is the dna one. Unlike BBC news etc areas, content on dna is generally written by non-BBC staff. The area is further divided into broad topic/usage areas which, rather confusingly, also tend to get referred to as "sites" (even though they are all part of the BBC site).

The first dna sub-site was h2g2 - where you are now. That was once a stand-alone site (started by Douglas Adams) before the BBC gobbled it up to get its software. After that various other sub-sites of dna were built for other purposes until, more recently, a large number of message boards were moved over (badly) from another area of the BBC. These cover topics such as TV, sport, music, children etc.

The windows may be propagating because you are opening each new link in a new window (some of them do that by default on clicking them anyway). Otherwise, perhaps you've picked up a computer virus or have a system which is unprotected and letting popups appear.
