A Conversation for Talking Point - Does Size Matter?

A few years ago, the fast food industry thought 'Super Sizing' the best thing since sliced bread. Burger joints were Go Larger. For an extra .50p or £1.00, you could increase your fatty intake with even more fries(fattier than an ordinary chip). Pizza places wanted to serve you stuffed crust Pizza, or give extra toppings of cheese. Even chocolate bars were brought out in King Size.
Now, here we are just a few short years later, and the health concerns by government, the medical profession, and the public at large mean the industry is having to do a quick u-turn - but shouldn't it have been obvious where extra portions of extremely fatty foods would take us? What with so many of us leading more sedentary lifestyles - sit-down jobs, and going home to watch multi-channel T.V's. I guess the industry would say they were just giving their customers what they wanted, and customers could choose to say no. At least now, pressure from all sides(especially their drop in profits)mean they're having to think a bit more about which cynical marketing ploys they use to buck up profits.
