h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Having seen my family tree which was prepared by a relative who emigrated to canada many moons ago, I have always wanted to know more!

I would invite the women from my familys past going back say 8 generations, starting with my great great grandmother, then her mother etc.... I had the privilege of knowing my great grandmother until she passed away 2 years ago, but further back than that is a real mystery to me. I have always thought that the 'grandmothers' actually ran the family, even if they were not the wage earner, knowing the children borne to them and their sisters. What a wonderful way to hear gossip about your ancestors!

I would prepare something traditional from each of their times and also try to get my hands on any secret family recipes during the meal! (my aunty has one passed down for welsh cakes which she won't divulge!)

I think I might avoid television and any modern music for fear of frightening the older generations!
