A long time ago, in a far distant gallery, I volunteered to subject myself to booing, heckling and general abuse - in the form of running a "Guess The Intros" pop-quiz style competetion. I really ought to pull my finger out and do something about this, but I'd like to know if the BB&C has a PA system which we can use to play a standard audio cassette, and possible a microphone to make myself heard above the inevitable heckling from Master B and the like.
Any idea, 2legs?

Ahh yes. I have an idea.
the idea was that if I boiled some....
oh hang on that wasn't.... Err; yeh problem; no microphone as I asked them that, so I'm guessing no PA I.E. no means play audio cassette it looks like 50 ish people so a voice might* carry above the thong or throng if you prefer, but I could* attempt* to knock out a quizz of a number of questions and print out a few handfulls of sheets to split between teams, that might work? of course, you can feel free to write it yourself or land Master B in it presumign they've a printer, well, if not I could* print them out but obiouvsly I'd then have seen the qustions meself actually I'm not a big fan of doing the quizzes myself as I don't normally know any of the answers, so I'd be more than happy to give it a go writting a few quizz questions, say 42 questions, mainly say from teh guide as it'd be easier for me to find some questions from the edited guide?

Surely somebody must have a portable cassette player? And anyway 2legs, you know you love the quiz because it gives you an excuse to shout "Nighthoover!" as the answer to every question.

I think, on balance, that I will bring my little cassette player. Should be powerful enough to broadcast to 50 or so people. I'll just have to shout to maintain order...or possibly employ some "muscle". .
Anyway, the list is being finalised, all I have to do now is record it...

Note to self: get some batteries.

but if I do* the quizz and write the questions myself nighthoover could* actually be an answer! let me know soon if I need to write it, it might take a little* while

Well, if you write the quiz, I may as well submit my answers now:
1. Nighthoover
2. Nighthoover
3. Nighthoover
4. Nighthoover
5. Nighthoover
6. Nighthoover
7. Nighthoover
8. Nighthoover
9. Nighthoover
10. Nighthoover
11. Nighthoover
12. Nighthoover
...and so on.

You got the first question rong; that had the answer 'badger'
Question two the answer was 'Churchill dog'.
Answer three you got right though I would* not* do a quizz where all the answers were daft things like that, I'd do most of it from stuff from edited guide

Why not combine the 2? An h2g2 quiz with a music intro round, or a music quiz with an h2g2 round. Are all the music questions taken from bands or people in the Guide? See C90
I'm sure Master B would be happy to help with making himself heard. He does it for a living, after all. I would offer myself. However, after many years in teaching I have perfected "The Look" and have no need to raise my voice.

That is a most excellent suggestion! A bit of both would be ideal.
Sadly, I cannot confirm that all the artists are in the EG* (but nor can I deny it! Bwahahahahaha!!!). But they should be, and in an alternate reality, perhaps, they are.

* I can confirm, however, that they are all in my CD collection. Except for one.

I am glad that Freddy gets to try out his quiz on us, having put all that work into it.
I love quizzes - especially pop music quizzes!!! Goody goody!

Is it a coincidence that the index of music Guide entries is at C90? Remember, home taping is killing music.

Oooo feel free to try your stern voice out on me
Right I've just been on the blower to the Bell Book and Candle (I figured they'd be quieter and better for me to talk to them this mornign rather than last night when they might have been bussy).
They serve food till 5 PM.
I shall be arriving sometime between about 4 and 4.15 (depending on the tube running smoothly )
The address if no one has it is ::
http://www.eeriepubco.co.uk/pub.php/bell_book_candle/
The Bell, Book & Candle,
42 Ludgate Hill,
London, EC4M 7DE,
(Nearest tube station St Pauls).
I told them some* of us would be arriving earlier with most turning up at about 6 or 7 ish, though I think they are fairly easy on this but I guess most will want to be there by 7 if not before
I'll add the address and info fon food to the main page as I don't think it is on there.
So the quizz is in hand I take it? Nice work people

I shall be doing a "Guess The Intro" - type quiz, of 21 songs - 1 point each for artist and title, total 42 points (I started out with 42 songs, but that went on too long...). Who's doing the rest of the quiz?

Quiz? - I thought you were doing that. How about if everyone brings 5 questions on stuff from the EG.
You'd just need blank sheets for teams to jot the answers down on - no special preparation.
