just booked the Bell book and candle, I said for between 40 and 50 people, in the top bar. And they didn't* want a deposit though I could have sworn the first time I called they said they'd need one..... The bar is open to the 'public' til 6 PM, and we'l have it to ourselves after that time I said some of us might be in before it ofically closes to public, and they said thats alright, so long as we keep the badgers out of the way whilst they are cleaning up She (the very nice lady on the phone from EdinBrough) did mention something that sounded very* interesting for £10 I could get a doobry sent out and I could fill it in, to ask for a late licience the bar will be at the current time closing at 11 like with the normal lunatic liciencing laws in this country I said that we wouldn't* be wanting one, partly cause I'm going to not be here but somewhere else from like Stunday and I doubt I'd get it by then... but.... i could.... well.... maybe.... if... people.... thought.... it... was ... a ... good.... idea.... News regarding quizz; they don't have a micropone so whoever got stuk with doing the quizz this year, if we are having one will have to shout over the noise of the badgers

Well why don't we ask who's staying in London and who would be willing to stay late?
If a lot of people are getting the last train home then a late licence wouldn't really be worth the money would it?

I'm staying in the city overnight, but don't want to be stuck in a pub from 6 til long after midnight. I intend to do the tourist thing the following morning, hopefully with a clear head.

I agree I can't see myself staying until two am, but it might be nice not to feel that I had to leave at eleven.

The last train home for me is at about midnight, so I wouldn't be staying much longer than 11:30.
I'd imagine it would be the same for others as well.

The amount of time it takes h2g2 Researchers to clear out of a pub, it might be a good idea. But I'm not coming, so don't listen to me. I just remember nearly every meet up having a really hard time getting people out of the pub.

My thoughts, overnight lean me towrds not going for a late licience this time for several reasons:
1. its our first time using thi pub for a meet, so this is a kind of trial of the pub as much as anything else.
2. we're or a lot of us are going to be dirnking all day anyhow.
3. I'm not goign to be at home here between Stunday and the meet, so its gona be awkward for me to get the forms and fill them in and such like.
4. as I said 'no' to the nice lady the first, time, I don't want them to feel we are 'messin them about' before* we've even had our first meet there

If it goes well at this pub we can always get a late license next time, and make it clear that we'll have a late license before people make their travel arrangements...

My thoughts entirely!: asides anything else they might get a bit peeved at the pub if we do get a late licience, only to find there is only a handful of us wanting to stay on late; if we use teh pub again for the next meet, we can advertise it as having a late licience in advance, and people will be able to choose to stay later if they wish and alter accomdation or travel plans accordingly....
