I did say that Mega Punch would sting. A Hyper Beam, however, is composed of energy, rather than being a physical attack. I can absorb any energy or magic attack I get hit with, then use it. To demonstrate, I picked this one up from a huge flying black creature.

SHADOW FLARE! *Rings of red energy flow into Davius, who unleashes a burst of black and white energy that blows away half the room*
