What's going on..?


I don't know what's going on here. I'm a subscriber to the BBC 7 newsletter, and it mentioned a "Get Writing... a BBC website forum which supports and advises audiences who want to develop their creative writing skills". It sounded like a good idea, so I clicked on the link, and found I was being asked to "update my BBCi membership" or in plain English, choose a new password -- although I don't see why I needed a new password just to learn about creative writing.

Anyway, I've now changed my BBCi password, and suddenly I've got this thing called a Personal Space (which I don't want), a Journal (which I don't need), and Guide Entires (which I don't even know what they are). And there's nothing here about creative wrting at all.

Anyone care to tell me what's going on?

it does sound as if there has been a technical glitch.

you may be asked to agree to the site rules, but you shouldnt be asked to redo a password.

The site runs from the same software as this one - DNA and it has been a glitchy over the last week and on occasion we all get prompted for the new login - however it sorts itself out PDQ if not almost immediately.(the problems are being worked on)

The messageboards and DNA sites run independantly currently so you do have to 'register' as such for each site but simply agreeing to terms and conditions is enough to transfer your details.

Try the link again and it should be ok. if you have any problems then post back here and we will sort it out when the staff are back in the office on Monday.

What is the link that is in the BBC7 newsletter? It might need correcting if it brought you to h2g2.

It just leads to a blank h2g2 page with a log-in option. When I tried to log-in, I was told I needed to update my membership etc. etc. and ended up here.

Ok thanks, they don't need the shtml on the end. When I get into work on Monday I'll email BBC7 and let them know, although it's a bit late now if it's already gone out.
