A Conversation for h2g2 FAQ: Your Personal Preferences

"Your email address could not be changed because you have entered the wrong original password."

When trying to change my e-mail address on the 'Preferences' page, it displays the error 'Your email address could not be changed because you have entered the wrong original password.'. The same happens when I try to change my password.

The password that I enter is correct. I am able to login to h2g2 and myBBC with that password.

Can anyone help?

Robert

Hmmm. Passwords are case-sensitive so if you originally entered an upper case letter you should always do it that way.

Could that be the problem?

Nope. I do all of my passwords in lower-case anywaym and I've tried both cases. As I've said, I can login successfully.

Sorry, Robert - I didn't mean to abandon you. Sometimes conversations get hidden by more popular ones and I fail to find them when I search back through the recent postings list.

I have to say that this has got me stumped - I think I am going to have to talk to someone technical about this.

I know, I checked on your U-space a few days ago, hence the '...?' posting to push it back up your conv. list. Must have got pulled back down again smiley - sadface.
