Hi Loony smiley - smiley
Yes, I like this. Just a couple of points though smiley - smiley
Did you intend to write *dread*? I always thought that the phrase was *dead*??
What about mentioning the *Two-Tone* groups, mostly English, who were very popular in the late 60s, early 70s and even beyond. I know that it was probably not *true* reggae, but it most certainly developed straight from the great mans' influence!

He certainly did mean Dread. The meanings of which can be found in Mike Pawka's Patois Dictionary at

http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Amphitheatre/2639/patois.txt

DREAD : 1. a person with dreadlocks
2. a serious idea or thing
3. a dangerous situation or person
4. the "dreadful power of the holy"
5. experientially, "awesome, fearful confrontation of
a people with a primordial but historically denied
racial selfhood".

The "Two-Tone" groups played ska music rather than reggae.
