As someone who lives just outside Braintree, I must take umbrage with your comments! There are many places in Braintree to have a good time. Alright, there aren't any actually IN Braintree, but there not very far away.

Well, alright, they are!

It's not that bad a place - as long as your idea of a good night out is bouncing off the drunken students in Flacks Bar, or queuing outside the Cinema (oh, it's closed down - I see!) or (help me out here, I'm struggling!)...

There are some nice villages around Braintree, with decent pubs and restaurants - I'd suggest The Bell in Panfield, The George in Shalford or maybe The Swan in Bradwell. There's a good Thai restaurant in Halstead, about 6 miles north.

Yes, the cinema has closed now, its been turned into another pub!
This time its full of semi-drunk students, prior to their nightly exercise at Flacks' wrestling establishment!
