Angel's Flight Log...
GOD Started conversation May 11, 2000
This little notice board, is designed to be a place to log anything activities you have performed on your flights. It is in no way designed to be a checklist, merely an aid so people don't double up in activities (though any potential Red-Baron's can be rest assured, a sorte 'hit's list' will be compiled... )

Angel's Flight Log...
GOD Posted Jun 2, 2000
Saint Peter - I have just gone through homepages U132900-133100. So I take the title of Red Baron for this week...
It appears the ACES aren't so systematic in their activities as thought, indeed the only entries I came across were Angel greetings
This kind of systematic approach seems to pay greater dividends than chasing new users on the pop-up menu...although obviously it is nice to welcome people whom have just logged-in.
Infact it seems that it is not as time consuming as one would expect.( If you have something pre-prepared to paste, you can go through about 75 an hour with room for customising the greeting)
Taking a look at what most people generally do when they first log-on they generally
a) Have a look around
b) tentatively post around
c) Change the Researcher Name
d) Put something on their title page
e) Post something in their journal.
So using this information. Generally speaking...
If you load the Uxxxxxx entry and it doesn't automatically go to the accompanying Axxxxxx, or the Researcher number hasn't been changed, there isn't any need to keep loading the page, and you can input the next one
Exceptions can occur when the Researcher Name has been change (denoting somekind of activity) so it might be best to scroll down to the journal entry as you might be able to leave something there...
Hopefully, we can collectively cover say the U130000 on, as they might be roughly considered the new users here.
So in the spirit, I'm just going off to cover U132800-132899

* St.Peter comes in making airplane noises, wearing his flying cap and rather disturbingly, talking in a fake German accent... *
I am the Red Baron, dare you challenge ME !!!
* He furiously marks down 300 hits with utter glee... *
* By the way, due to his poor navigational skills he targeted U129800-129899 not U132800-132899 *

Angel's Flight Log Update...
GOD Posted Jun 8, 2000
St.Peter - I'm looking to cover from U131000 on. I've stopped for the time being with continuing past U133400 (Only 5 days has elapsed so people probably are still mainly looking around).
I've covered U132800-133400 and I am working back in lots of a hundred hopefully towards U131000 (Doing U132700-800 now...). Perhaps someone might volunteer to work from the other direction or start inbetween ?
It is probably best to restart from U133400 next week...

You can check off 133400-133500. It's surprising to see how few people actually put something on their page, even after a week.

I'll say. I just looked at the ten user block around myself (U109500-U109509). Even after a few months, only one other person had updated their user page, and one other had participated in any sort of forum. Well, you can't win 'em all.

we just started a new thread over in heaven. this one is not just a chat thread, but also so we can do a head count and have all the angels touch base. if you don't want to hang around and chat that's fine, but it sure would be great if you could stop by and leave your mark! http://www.h2g2.com/F38362?thread=57689 see you there! St.Peter - Thanks for all the generous saints who took time out to greet so many people...
I know it's a worthwhile activity when somebody replies with gratitude...
Anyway, there is a new page some of you might know about, put together by Vegiman, which compiles all the recent new-users on site...
No longer does one have to sift through all the blank pages here at H2G2, indeed the recent editions even let you find those who have created a homepage, so you can post a reply.
I think in future, it's best to use this as our basis for greeting.
It can be found here

BTW After the next Archangel has been confirmed, further Archangels will be judged on merit, so every one has a equal chance...

i thought we already WERE being judged by merit! what do you MEAN???
Angel's Flight Log...
GOD Posted Jun 19, 2000
St.Peter - I would like to apologize to Zax. It may have seem that the previous statement derided his fine work, which he has more than earned the esteemed status - triple-fold.
I had initially intended to just go down the line of saints after ever 20 new saints. But, I think it would be far better to give everyone a chance, or otherwise the latest saints would have to wait for another 800 saints before they had a shot...
It was by pure good luck Archangel Zax was first up, and may we all count our blessings he was...

any tips for not clashing with other angels??? (sorry Dan!)
And is there a better way other than literally starting at one end and working your way down... there seemed to be missed people dotted around randomly!!!

That's okay, Fashion Cat. These things happen. Nobody has ever been hurt by having too many greetings.
