Since I can't play at the moment, I thought I'd write about it smiley - winkeyesmiley - jester Is this understandable for someone who's never played?

I'll add some links to pictures (especially the logo) when I get back to the computer they're on.

Hi Malabarista and welcome back to PR. You've only been here a couple of times before, but your Entries are certainly good enough - please do consider writing a few more.

As for this Entry - there are a few changes that need making. First of all, you're not allowed to link to the unedited Entries, so you'll need to remove the link to 'art of diabolo' and add a brief explanation of what a diabolo looks like etc. The Entry could probably do with one or two less footnotes, and finally you need to change the "double quotes" into 'single quotes'.

Hope this helps.

smiley - blush Thanks. There are a few more in the works, but they require more research than this one.

It's only my second trip through PR, so I'd forgotten all about the single quote thing (and probably a lot of other things smiley - doh) - thanks for the reminder! I was glad enough to get them at the top where they belong. smiley - laugh

I'll check the entries - thought I'd used only edited ones, but that one would have been *so* convenient... Oh, well, a little section on what a diabolo is and does should be doable, as should fewer footnotes smiley - laugh I simply footnoted everything I'd put in parentheses originally, seemed a good way of doing it at the time... Probably better to sleep on it first smiley - zzz

I smiley - lurk this one from work today and liked it a lot. Sounds like fun.smiley - cool

I agree with Alex about the footnotes, and those that remain should be complete sentences.smiley - ok

Excellent work.smiley - applause

Gnomon - time to move on

Footnotes don't have to be complete sentences, but they should start with a capital letter and end with a full stop.

Really Gomon ... I thought they did and was immensely proud of the little one's I managed to slip through that weren't full sentences. Now I feel robbed of my petty little victories.smiley - laugh

There - I've put in a tiny bit about diabolos and linked to some pictures from Wiki - they're just placeholders (used them because of the public license) and will be replaced with some of my own later to make absolutely sure there are no problems with the rights.

I've also taken care of the quotes (I think) and taken out some of the footnotes. Not sure which of the others are unnecssary/not really very good jokes, so I'd appreciate some advice on that. smiley - smiley

I also linked to a lot more entries, simply because following links from entries is my favourite way of browsing the Guide. smiley - smiley

My son's got a diabolo, must go and loomk where it is. He never played with it much, and I had no idea you could play it with several people. smiley - smiley

Sure, drag him along to a meet sometime and I'll show him smiley - winkeye

I've updated the photo links - all going to pictures I took and uploaded to my own Fotki album and linking directly to the pics, so there shouldn't be any ads. The logo is also mine, because I designed it, so no problem with the rights.

Which brings me to the next point - it's been suggested that since I was one of the original three or four "inventors" of this sport, it would be unethical for me to write about it. I can understand where that would be true if it were, say, a piece of music I'd composed myself and was praising here, but does it apply to this situation? I don't derive any personal benefit from people hearing about it (except perhaps meeting more players smiley - jester) and the game is not unknown, it's spread to wide parts of Europe by now, since we've passed it on to other jugglers we've met.

But if everyone agrees that I shouldn't be the one writing about it, I'll delete the entry. smiley - zen

I don't see a problem with you writing about it if it's now a *proper* sport.smiley - winkeye

It certainly sounds like fun and since you have the actual experience of it ... I can't think who else should write it.smiley - cheers

Well, it's not a proper sport in that the rules are really just guidelines and are reinterpreted constantly, and there's never been a competitive game. smiley - laugh But we've certainly managed to addict a few people (dunno how many, it's not organised)

Maybe I'll just change the title, *the* sport of jugglers is a bit presumptuous smiley - winkeyesmiley - blush
