The 90s was a real Mancunian decade. In music Oasis became the biggest band in the world with a blend of brilliant songwriting, attitude and anthemic songs, while James and Doves remained fairly popular throughout the decade. Manchester United dominated English football (even fluking the 'Treble' after scoring the two jammiest ever goals to win the European Cup) and Manchester City provided a rollercoaster ride by dropping two divisions and then climbing back up again to the Premiership. Manchester's city centre made the news in 1996 when the largest terrorist bomb ever detonated in mainland Britain blew a chunk out of Marks and Spencers and much of the surrounding area. Miraculously nobody was killed and the following regeneration project totally redesigned much of the city's commercial heart.

Hi, you are very right about the '90s I had forgotten about the Arndale bomb but 2 days previous to that I was in the Arndale after arriving back from the USA to see my small sisters, I took lots of photos in there and the Arndale to my mind never recovered, does anyone agree?

Well, seeing as most of Canon Street is now rubble, I'd say the Arndale is pretty much a non-entity now...
