Yeah, I know it should have been the original Runaways - but I have a weak spot for
Joan Jett.

Watched an episode of the Amazing Race, where two of the American contestants lost their baggage when their taxi driver drove off, with their bags in the trunk, instead of waiting for them to return.
That put an end to their participation, because they *both had their passports in their baggage. In Russia. In Moscow.
Hang on - so you visit a country for the first time, and you don't carry your passport on you at all times? Whenever I travel abroad, I *always carry my passport on my person. In Russia, I wouldn't carry it in my handbag and definitely not in the back pocket of my jeans. Probably more likely in an inside coat pocket that can be closed with a button or velcro.
And it's not just Russia where I'd be careful. When InterRailing to Istanbul many years ago, I had my money as well as my passport in a cloth pocket belted to my waist inside of my shirt, that was tucked into my trousers.
On the way home, a lady in our couchette department got robbed of her handbag in the middle of the night, in what was then southern Yugoslavia.
A wee bit of paranoia can actually be quite useful when travelling.

Amusing myself by watching a couple of 'Weird Al Yankovic' videos on youtube. That guy is actually quite talented and anyone who is the target of one of his parodies should be proud.

OK, now I'm seriously out of touch with pop culture - what is Yankovic's 'White & Nerdy' a parody of?

Oh, found it, completely missed it - and to think it includes the phrase 'they see me rollin', they hatin'

Drat, and now I can't find the pic of the guy pedalling along on a small bicycle followed by a live lion...

When we were in Mexico last week we kept our passports and most of our currency locked in the hotel safe. When I was in Cairo, I kept my passport on me at all times.

I havw very rarely slept in a place that has a safe when traveling abroad... but having a safe in your hotel room, it's a good option.

If you're in a hostel, many hostels do have safes/lockers you can hire.

But then, in several countries, you are required to carry ID *remembers a police raid late in the evening in Istanbul where all cars crossing a certain bridge were stopped and every driver and passenger was asked to show some ID*

Slumps in a chair,
Is that bot serving booze?
I fear I need lubrication,
purely for my muse.
She's gone on strike,
and I'm hoping to persuade her
to work one more night.
So if there's a drink,
I'd be very grateful
for the help to make me think.
