I did wonder about that. Is the ska/punk scene becoming more mainstream over there as some of the bands have been about for a while and they're starting to make inroads over here.

I suspect we're cross-posting here. Superdreamer, were you asking Captain Al Boy that question?
It's nearly as busy as a messenger window in here!
Captain Al, a very substantiive contribution to the discussion there. Were the Mighty Diamonds reggae or ska? I still think reggae is the ultimate party music....

That is the problem now as it's not so easy to see who's replying to what. I still think my answer as valid though

Sorry. I ment what does the Moab Washpot thing mean, as for ska/punk thing, I am old school punk. I recently saw The Buzzcocks and The Damned. I don't really have time to listen too new music.

Did you listen to any of the Radio 2 documentary on punk. They've decided that all those people who were there are now in there target audience!

I didn't catch that. But it makes sense. The thing about punk though is its only good the first few times you hear it. So all the people who were young then would have grown out of it a long time ago. I will have to scan in my photo I took of Capt. Sensible. (He gave me a plastic Banana)

Ska/punk is becoming just a bit mainstream, although most of the bands that are getting radio play here are not the punky variety, but the swing/pop/ska variety. Goldfinger is probably the most successful ska/punk band so far, and they've done quite a number of movie soundtracks... Baseketball for one.

Indeed it would be a whole lot of Phil's. I decided to go for phil55494 as phil is my name and 55494 is the number first given me when I arrived here. As it's a big number I also guessed that noone would have waited to get it and so I could just do as I please with it.
More annoying was hotmail's password requirement 8 characters means it's not my normal use on the internet password

Good thinking!
h2g2 seems to be picking up speed at last, after an extremely turgid afternoon. I have just heard that the bones of a giant ground sloth have just been discovered here in Florida and are proving to be the oldest known sloth in North America.
I just thought everybody would like to know that.

*returns from private apartments, carrying the sleeping Mindspring*
Well. I have been completely without power for 4 hours, thanks to thunderstorms, and when I come back in here I find that h2g2 is choking on every page I try to download. How can one carry on a decent conversation in such *trying* circumstances?
*sets Springie down in front of hearth*
There's nothing left of the day except to get some hot chocolate.
*goes glumly to kitchen*

Hah, nice one Sporky!
Sorry to hear about the storms Lil, But typically being the Longest Day here in the UK, (technically the middle of summer) it is absolutely pouring down. Does not bode well for my Interview this afternoon. Just reading the job description again, I didn't know we still used OS/2 let alone support it, and what things use Philips Unix? AIX and NT I can cope with. If Phil is listening, replies by
1.30pm BST please.
Only joking, Phil. I am sure I will blag it!

I thought a few banks still used OS/2 and internally in IBM as well it get's used.
As for the weather on the longest day, in London it's overcast but not raining (yet)

H2G2 just did something very strange, and gave me two latest threads. Let's go with this one: http://www.h2g2.com/F38024?thread=59895 and I'll see if I can get the other one deleted.
