A Conversation for M2M2 - Homophobe Blacklist

The Doctor

Hi there -
An excellent notion this, though I fear it will distract us all from the people who really contribute towards the perpetuation of the myth of homosexuality as a sin. I refer, of course, to those people who are inadvertently "outed", then suddenly go completely pink and want to be at the front of the bandwagon.
I would respectfully suggest George Michael, a man who avoided and contrived a private life to suit his best-selling image. Then suddenly arrested whilst cottaging in a public lavatory in a public park, he suddenly becomes a major cultural boost? How? He denied himself until that moment, and where he not arrested do we really suppose he would be out by now? He simply confirmed the homophobic image of a gay person to the media - a closeted, ashamed individual, prowling public lavatories. A real boost to our perception, thanks! And then he has the shamefaced audacity to insult our intelligence with a statement saying he is not ashamed of being gay, and has a happy and loving relationship with a long-time partner - hence, the cottaging? How stupid does this man think we are?
Take Stephen Gateley - again, no word of how happy and content he is with being gay until he gets word that he is about to be outed by a friend to the newspapers, then suddenly here's St Stephen!
I am sure there are many more worthy examples too, but frankly to even write about this is infuriating me.
