Robyi, I've never used a cab in London (don't use any here, come to think of it), so don't know about fares.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

I use Cabs in London a fair bit, in some ways they don't seem to be any/much more expensive than other parts of the country (they all seem to have increased everywhere outside London, to match London prices).
I've found with fairly* short journeys your useually OK; I've done Kings Cross to Shakespears head/princess louise (high holborn) quite a few times and that never seemed particularly expensive, from memory though a few years ago, can't have been more than £7, probably nearer £5.
Depends on the length of the journey; which depends on the traffic; yesterday my cab ride from Kings X to Newman road (end of oxford street), took bluddy ages, a good half hour or so and I got stung for £17 smiley - dohsmiley - 2cents I guess like anywhere ther eare cabbies who'll rip ya off and charge way too much esp if they think your not a yockle smiley - ermsmiley - 2cents Oh, and don't get a cab from Kings Cross to the centre of Cambridge at 2 AM, that tends to be quite pricey smiley - doh

Myself and Roymondo also drank some of the cider as we wanted a bit of a break from the beer with whisky chasers and we'd not quite gotten on the teikila at that point smiley - cidersmiley - evilgrin
