Interesting concept. I have always thought of using a type of quantum drive instead though. Simply put, if we live in a holo-graphicly engineered universe then all we would need to do is to use a quantum hologram. What I mean by this is to create a hologram of the area you wish to travel to just outside your craft. Because of the way the quantum world manifest, that means that you should be instantaneously transported to that location in space and time. Again, travelling without moving.
Bit beyond our present technology, but we are getting there. Quantum inseparability may supply the key...
