(Lucky enough to currently live in the West of Ireland, 4 miles from the nearest town, with skies from which the Milky Way shines like a string of tiny pearls - but UK citizen/voter and possibly soon moving home, when his lovely new telescope will lose about 50% of its usefulness straight away).

Jeff White. Ametuer astronomer and astrophysics major.
I kept seeing this page around but just hadn't been able to get around to seeing it. Great idea, light in my area sucks. I live between two major cities and am moving near New York City in the fall. Which really sucks because it throws up enough light to be seen from orbit.

Thank you for your names, when I get some of the paper petitions back I will send them off.
In the mean time you may like to check out the H2G2 Astronomy Society web site at:
http://www.h2g2.com/A413876
I'll put your name up, you will get a neat little badge and can use the site to access the world of astronomy on the web easily.
Neat.

The most spectacular sight of ANY type I have EVER seen was standing 9000 feet up a mountain in New Mexico this summer. It's cruel to deprive anyone of this.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
