Wearing a New York Yankee hat, for example, was common as a show of patriotism after Sept 11. And more importantly, hats are also functional - they keep the sun out of your eyes. You don't have to have stock in Ralph Lauren (or whatever) to wear the clothes do you?

In the interests of public safety the correct completion of a short questionnaire should be requisite to the purchase of all such items.
Imagine the consequences if some innocent, unrealising member of the public were to wear a Rangers shirt in the wrong part of Glasgow? Or perhaps an overseas visitor, from...oh, say Ohio, just for the sake of argument, were to wander round Scotland wearing three instead of one lions?

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
