Pixelated is the technical term. I also think "pixelated" is a neat word that doesn't get enough airtime! Dig. graphics people also say of a rough line that it has "jaggies" (has a jagged edge). This happens when you enlarge a low-res image without applying a smoothing algorithm (look at your pic of JB riffing, which I made lowres for use as a signature).
On first reading, I'm pretty impressed. I can't have it in front of me while I'm posting this, of course, but my only other thought while I was reading this was that several things neeeded a tiny bit more backstory.

Hey Mike, all the levels in Ed Hunter are based on albums except the last one.
