h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

The EG is the killer-Ap of h2g2, whole heartedly agreed.

However, I would like to think even the beeb can recognise the value of other aspects of the site - I have seen some amazing conversations in Ask, about an incredible range of topics - whilst everyone might appear to be too busy blaming 2legs,(much much) further down the red spots (was a while ago now, no time to find it), 2legs himself can be seen to have given excellent valuable advice to someone wanting to know about hearing-aids for some kid who had an unusual type of deafness (iirc).

Whilst it is true that the flippancy and fun on the site sometimes helps disguise the truly wonderful bits, and that other specialised fora exist, the sheer number of diverse characters lying around make Ask a pretty powerful beast which it is all too easy to underestimate.

h2g2 is also incredibly (justified and) ancient by online community standards, and as such, is something the beeb should be jolly proud to have saved all those years ago (or destroyed, with its endless rules and moderators, but I would ask you all to avoid that debate here, just this once ).

Now, back to PR, and possibly my EG entries in progress, which wont be ready for PR themselves for some time....
