Hi, Alex. Slickers are raincoats made of a smooth material, sometimes a rubberized fabric, and sometimes plastic. I'll change this word to "raincoats".

I don't think raincoats catches what slickers are - I'd continue to use slickers with a footnote saying rubberised fabric coat.

Okay, I reworked this sentence. Here is a link to a site with pictures of the type of rain gear most college marching bands wear: http://dancecheer.net/dirraingear.html
The Marching Lumberjacks wear something more like this:

I loved this Happy Nerd.
I think suspenders are what we call braces here, other than that it looks great to me.

Thank you Fizzy .
I changed suspenders to braces, but added a footnote, because over here braces are used to straighten teeth.

Hi h5ringer,
>>>>>> Two nations divided by a common language
So true. In this entry, I dodged the mack-mac bullet and the trousers-pants bullet, only to catch the suspenders-braces bullet.

Well, you know us Brits .... belt and braces most of the time.
.... and just for the record we put a *different* set of braces on our teeth.
Lookin' gooooood Happy Nerd.
